Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie (originally Angelina Jolie Voight) is an American actor and director famous for her sexual edginess, sex appeal and work in the field of humanitarian aid. Her role as a supporting actress in Girl, Interrupted (1999) was a role she was awarded for the Academy Award. Jolie, the daughter of actor Jon Voight, spent most of her childhood in New York. She moved to Los Angeles when she was 11 years old. After two years at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute She enrolled at Beverly Hills High School. Later, she studied acting at New York University. She also acted in theatre productions as well as modeled for music videos. It was in Hackers (1995) that Jolie first met Jonny Lee Miller, a British actor (married in 1996, divorced in 1999). The film failed to find an audience, which was the case for another series of films. However, in 1997 Jolie received a lot of attention for her role as the wife of Alabama's segregationist governor the TV film George Wallace, and she later was awarded the Golden Globe Award for her performance. The following year , she portrayed an actress struggling with drug addiction in the HBO movie Gia, a performance that earned her multiple honours which included a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award. After her Oscar-winning performance from Girl, Interrupted, Jolie made an appearance in Pushing Tin, a comedy with John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton, and in 2003 she got divorced. In Gone in Sixty Seconds ((2000)) she played Nicole Cage's lover. Later, she switched to the British accent and learned combat sports and kickboxing to play the titles in Lara Croft Tomb Raider (2003) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider : The Cradle of Life (2004). In 2004, she played the mother of Alexander the Great in Oliver Stone's Alexander as well as starred alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law in Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, a sci-fi thriller set in the 1930s of New York City. Both films failed in the box office, however Jolie's Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) was successful. Jolie played a character acting as a normal domestic worker while working on the film. Brad Pitt became her partner.
