Will Ferrell
Will Ferrell
rose to fame for his role as a character on 'Saturday Night Live,' before
appearing on such major-screen comedies such as 'Elf"Anchorman," and
'Talladega Nights.' Will Ferrell was born in Irvine, California in 1967. He
began his career in comedy by playing an actor for the improv troupe based in
Los Angeles, the group called the Groundlings. He was a Saturday Night Live
cast member for seven years , and he became a major comedic draw through
off-color successes, including Old School 2003 and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron
Burgundy 2004. Ferrell is also co-creator of the popular video streaming site
Funny or Die, and was a successful voiceover actor through animated films such
as Megamind (2010). John William Ferrell was born on July 16 1967 in Irvine,
California. The youngest child of Righteous Brothers keyboardist Lee Ferrell
and teacher Kay Ferrell, Will was--by his own admissions--not the class clown
in his time as an undergraduate at University High School. Ferrell, who was quiet
and reserved, chose to make his mark on the field and set records for the
number of field goals made. Even within the more relaxed confines of his
suburban home, Ferrell displayed little of the hilarious, outrageous
exclamations that would later define his career. His mother who was interviewed
by Esquire she said Ferrell was even-tempered and easygoing. "You do you
know those little Matchbox cars? Will would arrange his Matchbox cars
completely by himself and be completely satisfied. It would be a simple
question "Do you want to visit Disneyland this morning?" or "You
want your cars lined up?" He'd have to think about the matter.
"That's not to say Ferrell was a straight-laced man. A glimpse of
Ferrell's comic talent was shown each morning in high school when he disguised
himself and announced what was happening on the PA system. After graduating in
1986, Ferrell attended the University of Southern California at Los Angeles,
where he joined the Delta Tau fraternity and pursued the degree of sports journalist.
